Now That’s Funny – A Live Performance at The Elms

Sep 29, 2018

A Fun and Engaging Blast from the Past

In the style of comedic giants Abbott and Costello, Burns and Allen, and Victor Borges, The Elms residents will enjoy the uproarious antics of actor Bob Colonna and friends in their comedy show “Now That’s Funny!”

Mr. Colonna is an award-winning actor, with a most impressive resume which includes film, TV, radio and theatre. His dad, Jerry Colonna, was a popular sidekick of Bob Hope, where he earned his reputation as a comedian with many zany personas.  The elder Colonna was a well-known radio, film and TV actor in the 30s, 40s and 50s.

Bringing Memories Alive

“Now That’s Funny!” is a show that will bring back memories from a time that many seniors remember fondly. The jokes and gags of this era will be amplified in this live performance, which provides an energy all its own.

Although watching old TV shows and movies is an activity that can be beneficial for seniors with and without memory loss, professional caregivers know that the choice of programming and environment is important.

For many seniors struggling with mood swings and anxiety, the synergy of live theater may surpass the positive effects that can be achieved from watching a screen.

Bonus Effects

As with live music performances featuring popular songs from their past, live theater programs specifically created for seniors provide an opportunity to relive funny and happy memories in a lively and social environment.

It is exactly the kind of positive change that lifts spirits and gets folks laughing and talking. The thrill of this type of dynamic break in routine has been powerful enough to extend these positive benefits for days after the performance.

We are so happy to offer easy, on-site access to fun and engaging live activities and performances, providing opportunities for bonding and socializing that are so important to the health and well-being of our seniors as well as their loved ones.
