I saw The Elms Retirement Residence. They have two buildings connected by a walkway structure. The inside of the place was impressive and the location was very close to Wilcox Park, which was a superior Park. The staff was all smiles, and very helpful. The rooms were very nice. I think I saw three or two different apartments and a studio. It’s a mansion, and in a way, to me, it’s the nicest place because of Wilcox Park.

I like the comprehensive services. There are all kinds of activities if I choose to join them. They provide exercise, movies, bingo, and arts and crafts. They provide transportation for shopping, banking, and doctor’s appointments. The staff is very helpful.

My cousin in New York had discovered The Elms Retirement Residence. I went to visit and I was really impressed and I thought what a good fit it would be for my mom. It was just wonderful. Everything about it just seemed so right. The staff was alert, interested, and engaged. The residents there are just like my mom. They were older, fragile but not needing nursing care, and they were very intelligent women who had lived full lives and so I thought this would be ideal for my mom. She gets three wonderful meals a day, they provide laundry services, they clean her room once a week. And if she’s late for a meal they call right away to see where she is. They have so many interesting activities the whole week, and she goes to everything. My mother is 89. They do yoga, movies on the weekend, she gets her hair and nails done, they will bring her to doctor’s appointment, and there’s once or twice a week excursion … everyone is in sort of vacation.

Have been familiar with the Elms since the 80s due to work. My parents are there now.

There is always a head nurse and the staff are wonderful. The food is good and they offer a lot of healthy options. They always have something going on for the residents.

 

The staff does an amazing job.
I recently placed my mom in Chestnut Cottage. This is a memory care unit at The Elms. The Elms is a respected local business that has proven to be an excellent choice. The facility is beautiful and the staff does an amazing job. I am a retired senior citizen police advocate that assisted many families over the years. When it came to dealing with my own mom, all my experience “went out the window” due to my emotions. I appreciated the caliber of The Elms more than ever. This is a difficult decision for any family. Rest assured this is a great choice.

 

Wonderful, friendly community.
The staff was very nice and involved in the resident’s life. Nice downtown area for outings and activities. Had all the amenities my grandmother would need.

 

Wonderful care for senior with dementia.
My father spent his last couple of months of his life in The Elms Carriage House which is for seniors with dementia. The care he received was wonderful – professional, friendly and very personal. The staff cared to know my father as a person and were very engaged with all the patients. What impressed me even more though was the care shown for my mother as my father’s daily visitor. The staff always made sure she was well fed, emotionally supported and frequently asked after her own well being. I highly recommend this program to families searching for care!

 

I am amazed by this community.
The staff is as nice as can be! The chef is wonderful at making sure my mom is happy with her meals and making adjustments if needed. The staff is very kind and always helping my loved one with her bathing and morning hygiene. They offer a great happy hour at 4:00 pm for all of the residents, and have a great variety of activities. They often hold events for the families to be involved in.

 

Nice place.
Overall we’re satisfied with how things have turned out at The Elms. It’s a nice looking place, the people are friendly, and they do a good job looking out for the residents.

 

Staff couldn’t be nicer.
The first thing that sold me on The Elms was the layout, I love the layout of The Carriage House. I love the staff, the staff is wonderful. The food is good there, too. My siblings and I visited my mom everyday last week and we are all very happy, it’s a great place.

Dear Guy, Leslie and The Elms Staff,

Our family must thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the quality of care you all are giving to our mother, Libby Falcone.

Every person on staff has gone above and beyond to monitor and accommodate her needs. We witness her being treated with patience and kindness always. Janice, Tim, Karen, Wanda, Betty, Jeff and of course Joan have shown sincere concern for her during her recent health issues. We don’t know their names, but we do know that the night staff has intervened several times to help her. We are so grateful for the level of service and care our mother gets.

All this loving care by so many good people in so many different capacities underscores for us how special The Elms is for our mother and for our family.

We are convinced that our mother’s quality of life would never be as good in any other setting. We could never replicate this quality of life at home for our mother. She has the best of everything: The Elms and its entire staff are the best!
